Myth & Magick: Mercury's Daughter

Completed January 2009.
11"x14"; pen&ink on watercolor paper.
Cross the sky; cross the water. You are Mercury's daughter,
and the world will envy you your gypsy song.
The title Mercury's Daughter is a reference to one of S.J. Tucker's songs, Storm.
This was one of two illustrations (the other was Violissima) published in the book Ravens in the Library: Magic in the Bard's Name, a benefit anthology dedicated to S.J.. I was honoured to be among the same pages as Catherynne Valente, Neil Gaiman, Charles De Lint, and Seanan Maguire.
Ravens in the Library is now out of print.
